STL to 3MF converter

Make a smaller, modern 3MF from any STL or OBJ, ready for Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer or OrcaSlicer.

Runs in your browser. Your file is never uploaded.

Why 3MF is worth it

An STL stores every corner of every triangle separately, uncompressed. A 3MF stores each corner once and zips the result, so the same model is often a third of the size. 3MF also always means millimetres, so there's no guessing at units.

How to convert STL to 3MF

  1. Drop your .stl (or .obj) file into the box above.
  2. Check the preview and the size.
  3. Press Download 3MF.

The 3MF holds the shape only. Add colours, plates and print settings in your slicer, then save the project from there.

Questions

Why convert STL to 3MF?

3MF files are usually much smaller (they're compressed and share corners between triangles), they always store millimetres, and they're the native format of Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer.

Is it free, and is my file uploaded?

It's free with no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.

Will it open in Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer?

Yes. The file is a standard 3MF core-spec model in millimetres, which every current slicer reads.

Can I convert OBJ to 3MF too?

Yes: drop an OBJ file in here as well.
